Sporty, stylish, and roomy, the 2023 Nissan Altima is a midsize sedan that's perfect to use as a family car or for a college student to drive to school. Nissan has added a few new technology features, updated the front-end design, and added two new paint colors to the Altima's lineup of exciting color choices.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Nissan offers the 2023 Altima in five trims: the S, SV, SR, SL, and the extra-sporty SR VC-Turbo. This midsize sedan has smart styling with its massive front grille, large, dropped fascia, and cat-eye-shaped LED headlights. You'll find handsome 16-inch steel wheels with covers on the S trim and 19-inch machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels on the SR and SL trims. All trims above the S include a power-sliding glass moonroof. Most trims have body-colored rear diffusers, and the SR trims have charcoal rear diffusers. The two new exterior paint colors are Gray Sky Pearl and Garnett Pearl Metallic.
Engine (Power)
Under the hood of all Altima trims but the SR VC-Turbo, you'll find a 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with an output of 182 or 188 horsepower and 178 or 180 pound-feet of torque. Move up to the SR VC-Turbo trim, and you'll get a 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo DOHC four-cylinder engine that delivers 236 or 248 horsepower and 267 or 273 pound-feet of torque. Either engine pairs with an Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission with manual mode and paddle shifters.
Performance
Whether you're driving in city traffic or cruising down the freeway, you'll notice how smoothly the 2023 Altima handles. All trims come with an independent front suspension system, a multilink independent rear suspension system, twin-tube front struts, and a monotube rear shock absorber. The SR VC-Turbo trim also has its own sport-tuned suspension system. Front-wheel drive comes standard on all the trims, but you can get intelligent all-wheel drive on the SV, SR, and SL.
Interior
You'll have plenty of room inside the 2023 Altima with its two rows of seats that can fit up to five people comfortably. The well-appointed interior of this midsize sedan has upscale features such as power-adjustable front seats, leather trim, heated front seats on the two upper trims, and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. There's plenty of room in the trunk of the Altima with its 15.9 cubic feet of space. If you want even more cargo space, fold down the rear seats to get an impressive 58.8 cubic feet of space.
Nissan's infotainment system comes with a 7-inch touch screen. You can find the NissanConnect 12.3-inch color display with multi-touch control on the SL and SR VC-Turbo, and it's available for the SV and SR trims. All trims except the S have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Voice recognition and Bluetooth come standard across the lineup.
Safety Features
You'll appreciate knowing your 2023 Altima comes equipped with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist technology. Key features of this system include the available ProPILOT Assist system, the lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional features include a pre-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and automatic high-beam headlights.
