Nissan has continued to increase its electric vehicle lineup over the past few years. One of the newest additions to the line is the 2023 ARIYA, which was made available to American buyers in 2022. This sleek Nissan EV is an elegant addition to any driveway in Rockville, MD.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Nissan ARIYA is an electric SUV that is all-new. It features a sporty and aggressive exterior, including an oversized front grille and a low-slung body style that looks fierce on the road. Nissan plans to release the model in a single well-equipped trim level to start, although additional trims may become available later in the model year. The ARIYA looks different from other models offered by Nissan, which the manufacturer refers to as “timeless Japanese futurism.” It will include a set of 20-inch wheels and be available in six two-tone paint schemes.
Engine (Power)
The all-electric 2023 ARIYA will be available with two battery levels. The first battery option pairs with a single motor that powers the front wheels, while the second works with the e-4ORCE dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that powers the latest model of the Nissan LEAF. The powertrain includes a 65-kWh battery that pairs with the electric motor, putting out a combined output of 221 pound-feet of torque and 215 horsepower.
If you upgrade to the dual-motor AWD system, the output increases to 413 pound-feet of torque and 335 horsepower. It also includes a more powerful 90-kWH battery. This long-range battery will allow the SUV to drive up to 300 miles on a single charge.
Performance
Nissan reports that the quick-charging battery in the ARIYA can go from 5% to 80% in under an hour. This is one of the most appealing elements of the model, especially for on-the-go drivers who don't have time to wait around for a lengthy charge. This SUV also boasts powertrain components developed under the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. If you want a car that can get up and going quickly, this model won't disappoint. Nissan estimates that it can go from zero to 60 mph in about five seconds. The torque-split system found in the GT-R sports car from Nissan is also used in the ARIYA, which equips this model with all-wheel drive. Another unique element is the regenerative braking system, which allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop without the use of the brake pedal.
Interior
Within the spacious cabin, the futuristic look and feel show off the innovation of this particular model. High-end tech features include dual 12.3-inch display screens that connect to the infotainment system and digital gauge cluster, standard integrated navigation, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. A flat floor provides more space for the passengers up front, while the zero-gravity front seats provide a unique feel on every drive. The central console can also slide back to increase the space for those in the front.
Safety Features
The 2023 Nissan ARIYA includes a suite of passive and active safety features to protect you and those around you on the road. The suite includes Nissan's ProPILOT Assist 2.0, which is an upgraded version of the manufacturer's previous safety system. One of the most appealing aspects of the system is semi-autonomous driving functionality. The SUV also comes with a rearview camera, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking.
