Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Frontier's trim levels can be separated into three categories, two of which also have options for King Cab and Crew Cab layouts. The base level is called the S, which is available in King Cab and Crew Cab versions. It comes with exterior features like 16-inch painted steel wheels and auto on/off halogen headlights.
Upgrade to the SV trim, which is also available with the King Cab or Crew Cab layout, and you'll find improved exterior features like 17-inch wheels and trim accents. This trim also opens you up to extra packages that include heated outboard mirrors. The final trim, known as the Pro-X, is only available in Crew Cab, and it boasts skid plates and fog lights. It also has unique labeling and accents around the exterior.
Engine (Power)
Under the hood of the Frontier, you'll only ever find a single type of engine. Fortunately, it's a powerhouse. A 3.8-liter V-6, this engine offers best-in-class 310 horsepower with 281 pound-feet of torque. There are some customization options when it comes to the drivetrain, as you can choose between standard rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive.
Performance
Every truck's performance is largely dependent on its capability, and the Frontier certainly doesn't disappoint in that regard. When properly equipped, this mid-size truck can tow up to 6,720 pounds and handle a payload of 1,610 pounds. Additionally, the Pro-X trim level upgrades the performance to handle off-road challenges with ease, so you can explore more with your new truck.
Interior
Nissan equipped the Frontier's interior with zero-gravity seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and the option for heated seats and a heated steering wheel. This is also where the most important difference between the King Cab and Crew Cab comes into play. For the King Cab, the maximum seating capacity is four, while the Crew Cab expands to accommodate five. However, no matter your selection, you'll still have access to the rear under-seat storage.
Safety Features
Like most modern Nissan vehicles, the new Frontier is equipped with the Nissan Safety Shield 360. This collection of six driver assistance features includes favorites like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and blind spot warning. The Frontier takes it even further by also offering intelligent cruise control and intelligent forward collision warning, the latter being exclusive for its class. The Intelligent Around View Monitor is especially impressive, as it lets you take a bird's-eye view of your truck to see what's around.
