2023 Nissan Maxima
When the Nissan Maxima debuted in 1980, it served as the automaker's flagship four-door sedan. Since its inception, the full-size sedan has evolved to give off premium-car vibes without the high cost. Its heavily sculpted silhouette turns heads, while the vehicle's performance provides you with an engaged driving experience. You may want to head to the dealership soon, as 2023 marks the final year of production for the Maxima. However, rumors have it that Nissan might re-purpose the name for an all-electric sedan in the pipeline.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The midsize 2023 Maxima is available in three trims: SV, SR, and Platinum. Its muscular styling includes several bold features such as a bold V-shaped grille, large headlights, and a roof that almost appears to float above the sedan's body. LED accent lighting surrounds the front bumper, while the conventional taillights connect with a chrome brow found above the license plate. The sedan comes standard with 18-inch wheels, but 19-inch ones are available on the upper two trims. The sportier SR trim also includes exterior elements in black.
Engine (Power)
Regardless of what trim you choose, all Maxima models have the same powertrain. The 3.5-liter V-6 engine produces 300 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Performance
When it comes to fuel economy, the 2023 Maxima achieves decent numbers. Expect to get an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Its long highway cruising range makes it the perfect vehicle to take on lengthy road trips. The sedan also features paddle shifters, which come in handy when you're traveling along hilly roadways.
Interior
Seating five people comfortably, the 2023 Maxima has plenty of high-end amenities. The base trim includes dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Power-adjustable driver and front-passenger seats allow those riders to find a seating position that is supportive. Available upgrades include faux-suede or premium leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The sedan also features an abundance of cubbies that are perfect to stash everyday items.
Nissan's technology easy-to-use features are accessible via an 8-inch touch screen display, but you can also access the audio volume and climate control via buttons on the center stack for quick access. This high-tech sedan also comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot, an eight-speaker stereo, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The only available upgrade is an 11-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Nisan Maxima is equipped with a handful of safety features so that you and your travelers remain safe on the road. Some of these standard features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, rear automatic braking, frontal collision mitigation, and drowsy driver monitoring. Even moving up one trim adds front and rear parking sensors, lane keep assist, and a surround-view parking camera system.
If you're concerned about how secondary drivers are behind the wheel, rest assured with speed, boundary, and curfew alerts. The system also automatically contacts emergency services if the air bags deploy due to an accident.
