Everyday Performance

Both the S and SV Plus are front-wheel drive vehicles that are impressively easy to drive. They’re quiet, they accelerate smoothly, and the instantaneous power from the electric motor makes for a great experience. While they handle similarly, the two models come with different battery packs.

What about the driving range of the Nissan LEAF? The LEAF S is equipped with a 40-kWh battery pack that delivers an EPA-estimated 149 miles of driving range. Most daily commuters will be quite happy with the S and its 147-hp electric motor. For a little more range, the SV Plus comes with a 60-kWh battery that delivers an EPA-estimated 212 miles of range. This model offers a little more power as well, with 214 hp under the hood.

The 2023 LEAF S

Nissan illuminated and locked the fast-charging port on the S model, which can plug into either 120-volt or 240-volt outlets. The grille of the LEAF has an updated design for 2023 and looks smart with the wheel covers on the 16-in steel wheels. Drivers enter the vehicle with keyless entry. The driver’s seat is height adjustable.

Standard technology features include four USB ports, two in the front and two in the back, and an 8-in infotainment touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The system is paired with a four-speaker sound system. A blind spot monitor will alert you of cross-traffic when you’re changing lanes, and an automatic emergency braking feature will watch for front impacts.

The 2023 LEAF SV Plus

The upgraded trim level comes with slightly larger 17-in alloy wheels, LED headlights, and fog lights for improved visibility in poor weather. A leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel adds a noticeable upgrade for the driver. There’s also an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat for added comfort. Nissan has a careful eye on efficiency in the LEAF and has added a heat pump to the climate control system.

The infotainment system has the same 8-in touchscreen but adds navigation and a six-speaker sound system. A surround-view camera provides the driver with a top-down view of the surroundings of the LEAF. Drivers will also love the adaptive cruise control in the SV Plus, which will help maintain the following distance on the highway. ProPILOT Assist joins the technology and uses the cruise control and lane-centering features to provide drivers with semi-automated driving features.
