New for 2022
In 2022, the Altima will receive several upgrades. There’s a new Midnight Edition package that adds dark exterior accents and is available on the SR trim level. The SV Premium package now comes with heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals. The interior build quality has notably improved over the 2021 model.
Trim Options
The 2022 Altima midsize sedan comes in five trim levels. The base S trim, the SV, the SR, the SL, and the premium Platinum trim. Each trim builds on the equipment and features of the trim below. For example, the SV trim includes all the features and equipment of the base trim plus the upgrades of the SV trim.
Power Plant and Drivetrain
The 2022 Altima comes with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 188 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque. The 2.5-liter engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission. An optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is exclusively available on the front-wheel-drive variant of the Altima SR trim.
Drive and Ride Comfort
Drivers enjoy the stable handling of the 2022 Altima, while passengers enjoy a comfortable ride that smooths out any bumps on the road. The steering system is precise, and the brake pedal delivers excellent feedback and prompt response to input.

The SR trim’s turbo engine will give you 25 mpg when driving in the city and 34 mpg when cruising on the freeway.
Infotainment and Entertainment
All models of the 2022 Altima except the base trim come with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The base model has a slightly smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen. All but the base S trim come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a customizable menu. Bluetooth and USB ports are standard across all trims. Upgrades include a built-in navigation system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a nine-speaker Bose stereo.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Technologies
Forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking are standard from the base S trim upwards. From the SV trim and up, driver aids, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and high-beam assist, are standard.
